Dubai’s DEWA becomes first UAE entity to embrace ChatGPT

This initiative enhances the success of Rammas, DEWA’s AI-powered virtual assistant powered by Microsoft technology.

The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that it will be incorporating ChatGPT technology, backed by Microsoft, into its services.

This makes DEWA the world’s first utility and the first government entity in the UAE to use this advanced technology.

The announcement came as HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, CEO of DEWA, welcomed Naim Yazbeck, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, and highlights the authority’s ongoing efforts to maintain its local and global leadership in digital transformation.

“DEWA is investing in developing its digital infrastructure to accelerate its digital transformation to enhance customer happiness and provide added-value advanced digital services that enrich their experiences. This promotes DEWA’s global position as one of the most distinguished and pioneering utilities in the world,” said Al Tayer.

Naim Yazbeck, General Manager of Microsoft UAE, said, “We applaud DEWA for their pioneering spirit and look forward to further exploring the possibilities of integrating cutting edge technologies into their products to enhance their business, services and customer experience.”

Since launching its AI roadmap in 2017, DEWA has introduced various AI-powered services and initiatives aimed at improving the customer and employee experience.

The use of ChatGPT technology is being implemented through Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions), a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, with the goal of delivering more integrated and advanced services that drive productivity and meet the changing needs of customers and employees. The meeting was also attended by Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and Future at DEWA, and Mohammed bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub.
