Google’s AI-powered search engine may cost you dollars

Several reports suggest, the tech giant Google is looking at different ways to incorporate AI-powered search features to its premium subscription services.

For some time now Google has been working to build a genAI-powered search engine, now, Alphabet’s company is looking to charge for the premium features on this search engine.

This already provides access to Gemini’s AI assistant in Gmail and docs. If Google goes through this move, it will be first time since the giant would put any of its products behind a paywall.

The report added the traditional search engine would remain free of charge, and ads would continue to appear. Google did state in a report in Reuters that it would not be working or consider an ad-free search experience.

The tech giant stated it will continue to build new premium services and features to enhance their subscription offerings across Google. Currently Google is locked in a battle along with OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT in a GenAI battle.
