One of the app that kept people sane during the pandemic and since gained more traction is TikTok. Now the company enhances their selection of creation tools with the launch of TikTok Now, which will continue to foster authentic and spontaneous connections on the platform. It is the newest way to interact, entertain and connect with people.
TikTok Now, is a daily photo and video experience that allows users to interact with and share their most genuine moments with those who matter most to them. With no filter, no prep and full authenticity, it allows users to share and view the real version of everyone. With TikTok Now, you and your friends are invited to capture what you’re doing in the moment using your device’s front and back camera.
The new feature of the app lets users share a 10-second video or a still image while using both the front and back cameras of the mobile. So, you get to show the viewers of the amazing experience you are enjoying along with your reactions and comments about it. To keep it real and authentic, the app sends you notifications at random times of the day and gives only a three-minute window to post. Whether you are enjoying the views of the city from the Burj Khalifa, waiting in line to grab popcorn to watch a movie or standing front row at your favourite music artist’s concert, show your friends the amazing time you are having and the real you.
The standalone TikTok Now app has an additional ‘Explore’ feed in addition to the same primary TikTok Now features as the app. You can use it separately or in conjunction with the TikTok app.
How to use TikTok Now
To sign up or log in to the TikTok Now app:
- Download TikTok Now from Google Play or the App Store.
- Open the app. From here, you can:
- Create an account, which you can use for both TikTok and TikTok Now. Tap Sign up at the bottom of the screen and follow the instructions provided to create a TikTok account.
- Log in using an existing TikTok account. Tap the Start as button if you want to use the account you’re currently logged into, or Other TikTok accounts if you want to log in using another.
In the MENA region, TikTok Now can be accessed from both TikTok and the TikTok Now app. In some countries, TikTok Now may be available within TikTok, downloadable as a new TikTok Now app, or available in both formats.
Privacy and security in TikTok Now
With a commitment to safety and privacy, TikTok has a core privacy policy with which users are in control of their unique experience. Creators are in control of deciding who can view or engage with their content and can also block and decide which comments appear on their content.
If someone comes across behaviour they believe may violate the Community Guidelines, it can be reported for review. With more young users on the app, safety and well-being of teens in particular is taken into consideration with the following steps:
- If someone under the age of 16 creates an account to use the TikTok Now app, just like TikTok, their account will be private by default
- Those under the age of 18 will not be able to share their content to the Explore feed
- People aged between 13 and 15 will have commenting options limited to Friends only to help protect against unwanted interactions
