UAE’s DP world, a global end-to-end logistics provider, has announced a challenge for developing ideas for DP World in the metaverse. University students from India and the UAE will have the chance to be named the first ever student innovator for DP World.
Called the Big Tech Project, this is the first challenge of its kind that brings idea creators and innovators from the best universities across India and UAE, to solve some of the most interesting challenges in the world of trade using the technology of the future.
The question DP World is posing to university students is “How do you envision solving existing challenges at DP World by leveraging the power of the Metaverse?”
The challenge starts on August 22nd 2022 and ends on November 28th 20022.
DP World is granting prizes gadgets goodies, mentorships, as well as the change to secure an internship at DP World.
Students have to submit a two to three minute video explainer of their best idea. The top 10 teams who will move to the next round will be announced on the 19th and 20th of September.
The selected teams will be given 10 days to prepare a detailed and innovative pitch deck explaining how they will bring their idea to life. For this round, UAE- and India-based participants will be flown to the Dubai and Bangalore offices to present these ideas to the DP World jury.
The top 5 teams who will move to the final round will be announced on the 10th and 11th of October.
Afterwards selected finalists will be given seven weeks to build their prototype under the mentorship and guidance of DP World’s finest leaders and tech experts. The final teams will take the stage in Dubai and present their final presentation at a 1-day grand finale.

We know that the industries of the future will not be industries of the hand, but of the mind. So we have to deploy industry-leading solutions and technology to embrace this shift.”
In May 2022, DP World announced the creation of DPMETAWORLD, a new initiative aimed at bringing cutting edge virtual solutions to real-world supply chain challenges.
The platform is expected to launch by the end of 2022 and DP World has noted that it was actively talking to best-in-class technology partners to help develop the platform and help bring our innovative solutions to life.
