UAE: World’s first AI institute in health care now in Ajman

This institute is the first of its kind globally, representing a significant milestone in the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in the healthcare sector

The Gulf Medical University (GMU) in the UAE has launched the Institute of AI and Technology in Health Care, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at advancing the digital skills of medical professionals and enhancing healthcare services. This institute is the first of its kind globally, representing a significant milestone in the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in the healthcare sector.

Scheduled to open in September, the Institute of AI and Technology in Health Care, situated on the GMU campus in Ajman, will serve as a hub for multidisciplinary collaboration. It will bring together experts from diverse fields such as medicine, computer science, data analytics, and metaverse technology—a 3D virtual universe that connects users across multiple platforms.

The institute’s curriculum is designed to blend theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on training. Students will have the opportunity to develop cutting-edge AI solutions specifically tailored to the healthcare domain. These solutions will address various aspects of healthcare delivery, including applications within the metaverse.

Initially, the institute will offer short-term and long-term certificate programmes for healthcare professionals. These programmes will serve as a foundation for future Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, which will be developed and submitted for approval and accreditation in accordance with the guidelines set by the UAE Ministry of Education. By offering these programmes, the institute aims to promote the continuous education and professional development of healthcare professionals.
