AstraTech, the owner of BOTIM, has launched the first Arabic Chat GPT in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), with the help of Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI).

BOTIM’s Arabic GPT is an AI-powered platform that will be integrated into the app’s services, ensuring up-to-date and accurate information by continuously sourcing the latest data from local markets.

According to BOTIM, the new feature has the potential to revolutionise the Middle East by providing a range of services, including international money transfers, bill payments, government services, and weather checks.

The platform is currently being developed to expand its services, including BOTIM stores and healthcare services, making it the ultimate one-stop-shop for users in the region.

Abdallah Abu Sheikh, the Co-Founder and CEO of AstraTech, which is BOTIM’s parent company, expressed that the launch of BOTIM’s Arabic Chat GPT is a significant step towards making people’s lives simpler and transforming the global tech industry, while also improving the capabilities of their upcoming Ultra app.

“We are very excited to leverage the Arabic language modeling experts at MBZUAI  to pilot the service on BOTIM for our select users as we train the model. The Middle East is poised to experience a 20 percent annual growth rate in AI by 2030, and the UAE is set to lead the region with an average annual contribution of nearly 35 percent. We are excited to be at the forefront of technological innovation and creating new opportunities with local academic collaboration,” he said.

Sultan al Hajji, the Vice President of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations at MBZUAI, stated that this collaboration with Astra Tech demonstrates how the university’s research and expertise in natural language processing (NLP) can address challenges and provide improved services to industries and customers.

“We welcome further opportunities to align our scientific focus with the UAE and wider region’s vision for innovation in technology and communications.”

Initially, the BOTIM GPT service will be available to a limited group of its 100 million-plus user base before gradually expanding in the near future.

During the testing phase, users can input their inquiries into the chat field, and the model will process the sentence and provide source URLs that redirect them to more information about a particular service they are interested in.
