Chinese consumer major Honor launches thinnest foldable smartphone

Honor has launched Magic V2, the thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone. The phone is priced at Dh6,899.

Honor, the Chinese electronics consumer major has launched Magic V2, the thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone. The phone is priced at Dh6,899. The new smartphone weighing 231g and measuring 9.9 mm in thickness when folded has five cameras, and a 5000 mAH battery.

Mafeijian (Mr. House), the CEO of Honor in the Gulf region, said that the team believes the phone will achieve significant success by exceeding consumer expectations in the region, especially with the existing users of foldable phones. He added the folded design externally resembles the look and feel of traditional smartphones. The Magic V2, he said, makes foldable accessible and practical.

The smartphone’s five cameras are split between a triple rear camera setup and a dual front-facing camera setup, one on each display. The rear cameras include a 50MP ultra-wide camera, 50 MP main camera, and a 20MP telephoto camera. The dual front-facing camera features two 16MP cameras that also supports various capture modes.

The Magic V2 boasts of an immersive user experience with support of over 1.07 billion colours along with dimming that minimises eye strain.

The pre-orders of the phone run from February 2 to 8, on the brand website and other platforms like Amazon, noon, Etisalat by e&, Jumbo, Emax, Sharaf DG. The phone is available in purple, black, and a special version in black with a vegan leather back.

During the pre-order bookings, buyers can also get free gifts worth Dh4,744, and these include Honor watchGS3, Magic V2 case and VIP Care+ that includes a 24-month screen replacement warranty, an extended 30-day replacement guarantee, Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra Headphones, and a 24-month extended warranty.

Today most smartphone manufacturers are increasing the use of AI technologies to stay ahead of the game. In July last year, Honor had launched 90 5G and Honor 90 Lite 5G in the region. The smartphones were packed with AI technologies for enhanced user experience.

Samsung, the South Korean major has also launched the latest variants of its S24 that is packed with new AI solutions.
