GITEX 2021: Lenovo ready to help regional businesses become ‘data-centred’

ISG’s Chris Docherty highlights Lenovo’s participation and explains the theme this year – ‘Building a Smarter Future with the New IT’

As the world faces significant disruptions, sectors like healthcare, education, environment and global economy have been challenged in unprecedented ways. For doctors, teachers, scientists and business leaders to tackle these issues, their success increasingly depends on a second group – the IT Leaders.

Across the region, IT leaders are driving intelligent transformation using ‘New IT’ solutions, like Edge, Cloud, AI, Analytics, IoT, 5G, Supercomputing – which are essential to building a smarter future.

Lenovo will be taking part in the GITEX Technology Week (17-21 October) under the theme ‘Building a Smarter Future with the New IT’.

At its stand (Hall 6 A250), Lenovo will demonstrate how it is a key ally to these IT Leaders and how it is equipping them for the New IT with smarter technology solutions that inspire them to deliver mission critical solutions that transform their organisations.

Speaking to ITP.net on its participation, Chris Docherty, Regional Manager Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), Middle East, said: “We will be highlighting the power of Lenovo group’s End to End Solutions – with showcases of how systems from Infrastructure Solutions Group work together with Lenovo’s intelligent devices and smart collaboration portfolio to create comprehensive solutions that address the demands of a smarter future.

“We will also be demonstrating how Lenovo’s hardware, infrastructure and devices in partnership with some of our partners such as Siemens, iOmnscient, Varjo, and Nearby Computing come together to create comprehensive solutions in key verticals including smart cities, security, education, gaming, healthcare and telecommunications.

Stating that GITEX provided an important opportunity for Lenovo, Docherty added: “It’s great to meet with existing customers and partners face-to-face, and to have important discussions about how we address the opportunities we see in the region as we move towards economic recovery. The event also provides us with a chance to showcase the power of Lenovo Group’s combined business units, and to highlight the depth and breadth of our portfolio to new customers and partners.”

The pandemic has served as a catalyst for digital transformation, enabling businesses to stay connected to their employees and customers. At the source of this transformation lies data, an ever-increasing amount, that if harnessed properly, has the potential to empower employees and grow innovation beyond previous expectations.

Docherty said Lenovo has the wherewithal to help the region leverage data.

“It’s almost a cliche to say that ‘data is the new gold’, but the fact is that the data-economy is now here,” he explained. “Of course, data on its own is powerless. It takes people to bring it to life and give it purpose. To analyse the patterns and to add real human-insight. And it takes forward-thinking leaders to let the data guide their decisions, to build a data-led ecosystem for their company, and to develop data literacy skills across their employee-base.

“Lenovo believes it’s time for businesses to become ‘data-centred’ and to capitalise on the growing data economy. In this new economy all businesses are data businesses, and every employee works in a data ecosystem. A data strategy, focusing on skills, literacy and analysis therefore needs to be put at the heart of your organisation to reap the value of transformative technologies while protecting what really drives competitive advantage – your people.”
