Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Health taps Oracle to enhance patient care

The use of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure will enable Mubadala Health to swiftly access patient care data for thousands of clinicians and staff, thus enhancing patient experience and treatment outcomes.

Mubadala Health has entered a strategic partnership with Oracle, which will see the company leverage the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) available in the Oracle Cloud Dubai Region to operate its electronic health records (EHR) system, Oracle Cerner.

“We are thrilled to have signed this significant agreement and to have established such an important relationship with Oracle,” said Khalid Al Amadi, Senior Director, Informatics and Integration at Mubadala Health.

“This milestone agreement is another step in our digital transformation journey and will allow for exponential improvements in the way care is provided to the community.”

The agreement will complement Mubadala Health’s initiatives to incorporate new innovations, expand patient services, and establish more convenient access to patient records for healthcare providers. The partnership aims to facilitate growth of healthcare partnerships within the region.

The use of OCI will enable Mubadala Health to swiftly access patient care data for thousands of clinicians and staff, thus enhancing patient experience and treatment outcomes.

The transformation is expected to double the number of concurrent users to over 10,000, thereby allowing for new approaches to care delivery that require real-time coordination and information exchange among multiple providers, patients, and locations within the country. Running Oracle Health’s EHR on OCI will also enable the network to expand to additional locations, including Mubadala Health Dubai and Imperial College London Diabetes Centre, due to its scalability.

According to Al Amadi, Mubadala Health intends to be at the forefront of promoting interoperability in the healthcare system. “This is expected to enhance clinical experiences and accelerate cutting-edge innovations thereby helping advance better patient health outcomes.”

By utilising Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in the Dubai Region to operate its Cerner EHR, Mubadala Health is set to achieve new breakthroughs that will enhance both operational and financial efficiency.

These advancements encompass a range of services, such as computing, storage, networking, database, analytics, and mobile solutions, which can boost service level protection while simultaneously decreasing expenses on hardware upgrades, storage, servers, and licenses. Additionally, the system will benefit from proactive monitoring and management to ensure optimal performance.

“Our collaboration with Mubadala Health is a testament to how we are supporting healthcare systems to become more digitised, connected, and interoperable,” added Travis Dalton, executive vice president at Oracle Health.

“With OCI, Mubadala Health will be better able to manage its growing patient volumes, help reduce operational costs, and provide clinicians with better access to information to help improve care.”
