Alibaba Cloud Launches AI Meeting Assistant and Cloud Computer

Alibaba Cloud’s new AI meeting assistant that converts speech to text in real time and a new cloud workstation that allows users to work from anywhere.

Alibaba Cloud's upgraded Wuying cloud computer

Alibaba Cloud, Alibaba Group’s digital technology and intelligence provider, has unveiled Tingwu, an AI-powered meeting assistant, and an updated version of its cloud computer.

Intelligent Note Taking

Tingwu is an AI-powered meeting assistant that converts spoken words into written notes in real time. Ali Baba Cloud claims 98% accuracy in Mandarin. “Underpinned by our end-to-end speech recognition solution, Tingwu’s accuracy and powerful features make it a perfect tool for businesses to host multi-location online and offline conferences and interviews,” said Zhijie Yan, Head of Speech Lab of Alibaba DAMO Academy, the system’s developers.

Tingwucan distinguish between up to 10 speakers and can recognise speech at a range of 10 meters while accounting for background noise.

Using speech recognition, natural language and deep learning technology, Tingwu can understand English, Mandarin and 14 other Chinese dialects and correct and refine notes based on the meeting’s context. Minutes can be organized by keywords and summaries, highlights and follow-up items can be generated.

A Cloud Computer

Alibaba Cloud has also improved the functionality of last year’s Wuying cloud computer for enterprises with an all-in-one PC and a one-stop “Cloud Workplace” solution to empower users to work from anywhere.

The computer uses the cloud to provide employees with access to company resources. The “Cloud Workspace” is an integrated solution comprised of security, network and storage tools that address the security challenges posed by working within the cloud. According to Alibaba, tools such as firewalls, end-to-end encryption and cloud backup and recovery mean that the system can store data in the cloud, rather than on a physical device, thereby limiting security concerns.

The Wuying family of products now consists of the all-in-one PC, card and box terminals and a Desktop-as-a Service (DaaS) application, which allows users to connect to the cloud computer from any device, regardless of which operating system is used.
