Popular fast food chain Wendy’s has adopted Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite and transitioned critical business operations to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to enhance efficiency, gain deeper insights, and improve customer interactions.

The company aims to become a globally recognised and beloved restaurant brand. As Wendy’s expanded its reach internationally, it encountered operational challenges due to manual processes, diverting valuable time away from its employees and restaurant managers who strive to provide exceptional customer service. To streamline operations and allow staff to focus on delivering quality food and service, Wendy’s opted to migrate its Finance and HR functions to the cloud using Oracle Fusion Applications Suite.

“Our vision is to create fast, frictionless, and fun user experiences for our employees, franchisees, and front-line workers to help drive consistent, quick, and convenient customer experiences,” said Stephanie Shaw, vice president of enterprise technology, Wendy’s.

“Aligning Finance and HR on Oracle Fusion Applications Suite has allowed us to simplify and automate business processes to help build a culture of innovation and inclusivity and enable employees to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time thinking about and engaging with our customers.”

Leveraging Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Wendy’s consolidated 11 different financial applications into a single cloud ERP suite with built-in analytics, leading to increased productivity and better controls. This shift enhances Wendy’s ability to gain insights into its operations, improve planning, and accelerate the speed and accuracy of financial reporting. Additionally, in collaboration with Oracle, Wendy’s developed a customised billing management system to automate franchisee-specific billing and payment requirements. The system utilises Oracle Applications Platform with OCI’s Visual Builder and Application Integration, ensuring seamless integration with the rest of the Oracle Fusion Applications Suite. This custom application harnesses Oracle Exadata Database Service and Oracle Autonomous Database on Oracle Exadata, offering the necessary scalability, performance, and availability.

Building on the achievements of its Oracle Cloud ERP deployment, Wendy’s is currently migrating its global HR system to Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM). With Oracle Cloud HCM, Wendy’s aims to standardise onboarding procedures, enhance HR self-service options, offer real-time insights into goals and performance metrics, and empower employees in managing their career growth.

Steve Miranda, Executive Vice President of Applications Development at Oracle, commented on the competitive nature of the quick-service restaurant industry, emphasising the role of employees and managers in elevating brands through speedy and customer-friendly service. He highlighted that with Oracle Fusion Applications Suite, Wendy’s can automate processes and make informed decisions more rapidly, leading to outstanding customer experiences. Furthermore, Wendy’s now possesses the technological foundation to embrace new services as it pursues its corporate vision.

Oracle Fusion Applications Suite allows organisations to leverage the cloud to eliminate internal barriers, standardise operations, and manage finance, HR, supply chain, and customer experience data on a unified cloud platform. With quarterly updates, customers gain access to continuous innovation with new features introduced every 90 days, ensuring minimal disruption to their business operations.
