The telecom giant has chosen to standardise its network and IT operations on Red Hat technologies at a cloud scale

With the aim to drive innovation, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver exceptional experiences to customers in the region, etisalat by e& has entered into a pivotal partnership with Red Hat.

Etisalat by e& is on a mission to be at the forefront of next-generation digital services for individuals, households, organisations, and entire societies. With the digital landscape evolving rapidly, the telecom giant has chosen to standardise its network and IT operations on Red Hat technologies at a cloud scale.

At the heart of this collaboration is the adoption of Red Hat’s platforms, including Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. These platforms will empower etisalat by e& to modernise its infrastructure and systems, aligning with industry best practices and emerging technologies, such as DevOps, containers, automation, and artificial intelligence.

Red Hat will not only provide its technological prowess but will also offer enhanced solution support and training to upskill etisalat by e&’s staff, ensuring that they can effectively leverage these advanced tools and workflows to drive digital innovation.

The partnership with Red Hat aligns seamlessly with etisalat by e&’s goal of being a pioneer in the telecommunications industry. It also stems from the telecom company’s comprehensive hybrid cloud strategy, which demands the flexibility to scale workloads across diverse public and private cloud environments. Red Hat’s platforms are purpose-built for the hybrid cloud, offering benefits such as enhanced security, automation, and the freedom to choose from a wide range of hardware and software, fostering consistency and scalability.

Darrell Jordan-Smith, senior vice president, Telco, Media & Entertainment and Edge, Red Hat, said, “Emerging technologies like AI, edge computing and advanced software-defined architecture are fueling the evolution of telecom networks and digital services. etisalat by e& is thinking ahead and equipping itself to take advantage of the dynamic cloud landscape by making sure it has the right foundation in place. This organisation-wide framework for tapping Red Hat’s latest solutions helps position etisalat by e& to better meet its ambitions as a digital pioneer.”

Etisalat by e& is set to embrace cloud-native architectures and processes to improve operational efficiency. Red Hat’s expertise in application modernisation will enable etisalat by e& to re-platform existing workloads, transition from monolithic applications to microservices, and adopt agile practices like DevOps and CI/CD to expedite software delivery.

Khalid Murshed, chief technology and information officer, etisalat by e&, said, “At etisalat by e&, we put customer experience at the forefront of everything we do, taking pride in empowering people and the larger community. Red Hat is a strategic partner enabling us to be agile and dynamic to thrive in a multi-cloud future. By giving our teams ongoing access to Red Hat platforms for application development, automation and creative collaboration, we will be able to innovate faster, delivering tangible value to customers in line with our culture and business goals.

Furthermore, the telecom company is on a mission to streamline its operations through automation. With the guidance and tools provided by Red Hat Consulting and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, etisalat by e& will establish an automated infrastructure with a robust security foundation, thus reducing manual tasks, improving control and compliance, and driving cost reductions.
