Huawei launches Spark program in Egypt to support tech start-ups

Huawei Technologies has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) to launch the Spark program to support deep-tech start-ups.

The program will provide start-ups operating in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), data management, gaming, and e-commerce with free access to Huawei’s cloud resources. Selected start-ups will have access to Huawei’s training programs for technical support.

Vice President of ITIDA Hossam Othman said, “Spark program seeks to tremendously impact our entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt; unlocking the path of promising opportunities. It also meets our primary goals of boosting innovation in Egypt, as well as our mandate of building the capacities of young talent on the latest ICT technologies.”

Egypt has been working extensively to grow its digital economy and enhance its tech environment. The Egyptian Ministry of Communications and IT signed an agreement with HMD International, the owner of Nokia, and Egyptian Etisal for advanced industries to manufacture locally 1 million Nokia mobile phones of various models by the end of 2022.

Prior to that, French Valeo, smart mobility Tech Company has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Egyptian Ministry of Communication and IT to expand their investments and business volume in Egypt.
