New study: Global Wi-Fi chipset market will hit $20bn by 2026

The global Wi-Fi chipset market is predicted to reach $20 billion by 2026, as consumers around the world increase their demands for ubiquitous, gigabit capable connectivity.

Along with 5G mobile and full fibre fixed line connectivity, Wi-Fi will have a key role to play in delivering next generation connectivity to consumers and enterprises around the world.

A recent study from market research firm Global Market Insights, found that the Wi-Fi chipset market is projected to garner sizable revenue growth on the back of rising deployment of Wi-Fi 6 devices in In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems. These chipsets are integrated in automotive lighting, instrument clusters, and speakers along with other modules, the report explained.

“Growing use of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and wireless sensors in automobiles could enhance the business prospects of Wi-Fi chipset manufacturers over the forthcoming years. Moreover, rising popularity of self-driving cars and autonomous vehicles could further push the demand for Wi-Fi cards.

“Several countries are making progressive initiatives to promote the use of autonomous electric vehicles. Mounting focus on developing state-funded smart city projects could broaden the application spectrum of Wi-Fi chipsets. The emergence of smart cities will dawn a new wave of demand for automated homes and inter-connected devices like smart speakers, robotic vacuums, and wireless security systems. This could boost the adoption of new Wi-Fi chipsets like Wi-Fi 6 cards,” a Global Market Insight’s spokesperson said in a statement.
