International CRM specialist, Salesforce, has claimed that online consumer spending hit an all-time high during Cyber Week, with $270 billion spent by consumers across the globe.

Digital sales increased by 23% on Black Friday and 10% on Cyber Monday compared to last year’s figures.

Salesforce released its Cyber Week insights, a report which analysed the global shopping behaviour of more than one billion global shoppers on the Salesforce Customer 360 platform.

The research showed that global online sales surged by 36% during Cyber Week 2020, compared with last years figures. Undoubtedly, online shopping behaviours have been fuelled by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are blown away by the record growth driven by our customers this holiday season,” said Adam Blitzer, EVP & GM, Salesforce Digital.

“The Salesforce Customer 360 delivers a scalable platform that enables our global customers to deliver personalized digital experiences. This powerful combination resulted in millions of orders placed and billions of dollars transacted for our customers around the world.”

The report found that as consumers increased their digital footprint, they engaged with brands beyond the traditional four walls of stores and on commerce platforms like social, messaging, live streaming and more.

Social media platforms drove 9% of global traffic and 10% of U.S. traffic to commerce websites over Cyber Week. These platforms accounted for 3% of global digital orders and 4% of US digital orders that were placed over Cyber Week.
