Nexans has announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with Orange Business Services to procure global IoT connectivity solutions that will enable its own portfolio of asset tracking and IoT services.

As part of the agreement, the pair will create a comprehensive IoT ecosystem to support customers throughout their journey, as Nexans continues its evolution from cable supplier to complete service provider.

“Our partnership with Orange Business Services brings leading edge IoT solutions to Nexans customers. Our plans is to create a disruptive IoT ecosystem to amplify Nexans solutions anywhere in the world thanks to Orange Business Services’ worldwide coverage,” said Christopher Guérin, CEO of Nexans.

The partnership will enable Nexans to extend its connected products programme, which allows customers to access real-time information on the location of their cables, helping to reduce theft and loss. Nexans has pledged to connect 25% of its products by 2024.

As part of the deal, Orange Business Services will provide Nexans with global connectivity for its IoT devices, at a fraction of the cost involved in arranging agreements with different network providers. Nexans connected solutions are thus equipped with an Orange international SIM card, which transmits data quickly, efficiently and securely to the Nexans platform, via the Orange global mobile network.

“We are very proud to accompany Nexans in its digitalisation journey which also includes a major effort on sustainability. Thanks to our IoT and smart mobility expertise and in particular to the global connectivity that we provide, we are helping Nexans to digitalise and connect its smart solutions. The result will be a better, smarter and greener logistics supply chain, which will create added value for customers,” said Helmut Reisinger, CEO of Orange Business Services.
