NEOM Tech & Digital Holding Company (NEOM Tech) welcomed Oracle as the first tenant of its hyperscale data centre at NEOM and announced a joint venture with EzdiTek to power and operate the centre.

The second of its kind, the tenancy at the new hyperscale data centre is part of Oracle’s dual-region cloud strategy which allows customers to deploy resilient applications in separate geographic locations within a country. This follows the launch of the Oracle Cloud Saudi Arabia West Region in Jeddah in February 2020.

NEOM Tech, via its affiliates, NEOM Company, also announced a $0.5bn joint venture with EzdiTek, via its affiliate, FAS Energy Trading Co, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Fawaz Alhokair Group, to power the data centre. To construct the centre, EzdiTek will partner with engineering firms RED and Gensler.

It will allow us to offer our co-location customers access to pioneering data centre facilities. NEOM offers a truly inspiring future and as leaders in renewable energy in the Kingdom we are excited by the opportunity to help realize that vision.”

Broad vision

51% owned by NEOM Tech and 49% owned by EzdiTek, the centre will meet the most demanding industry security standards and serve clients in the MENA region, Sub-Saharan Africa and eventually Europe. The centre is located at the meeting point of terrestrial and undersea cables, allowing for fast, reliable service.
