Oman Airports enters Phase 2 of 5G agreement with Vodafone

The partnership will see Vodafone provide enhanced 5G services at Muscat International Airport (MCT) and Salalah Airport

Oman Airports officially entered into the second phase of a collaborative agreement with Vodafone Oman to provide 5G services at Muscat International Airport (MCT) and Salalah Airport.

The agreement, which was signed during the COMEX 2023 exhibition, aims to bring enhanced 5G services to both airports.

The partnership will see the improvement of internet services available within the airports’ premises. The CEOs of both organisations, Sheikh Aymen Ahmed Al Hosni from Oman Airports and Eng. Badr Saud Al Zidi from Vodafone Oman, were present to sign the agreements.

Last year, Vodafone successfully implemented advanced 5G capabilities at Muscat International Airport, providing travelers with cutting-edge connectivity that is only available in a few select airports worldwide. This ultrafast system, exclusively available to Vodafone customers, marks the airport’s first-ever 5G indoor coverage, offering an impressive peak rate of up to 5000Mbps. With such incredible speed, users can download a high-definition movie in just one minute or handle up to 300 Zoom calls simultaneously.

The deployment leveraged technology solutions from Ericsson, specifically the Radio Dot System.
