Smart tech key to Farnek’s growth in Abu Dhabi manned security market

FM company invests AED 5 million into R&D including smartwatch technology

Smart tech key to Farnek’s growth in Abu Dhabi manned security market
Tamimi and Oberlin emphasise the role of technology in delivering value in the manned security sector.

Farnek, the facilities management firm, has developed its own multifunctional smartwatch technology.

The Android watch is programmed, coded and developed in-house and provides attendance and incident reporting as well as call facilities, the company says. All watches are connected to Farnek’s command centre, to pinpoint the exact location of guards and provide them with real-time updates.

“Through embarking on the digital transformation of our services, we’ve seen a large uptick in enquiries for our unique security service offering. Businesses like the technology, they’re encouraged by Farnek’s near 40-year pedigree, and they’re also reassured by the fact every one of our security guards has either a police or military background,” added Tamimi.

Recent market figures from research outfit, Frost & Sullivan, have estimated that the Middle East commercial security market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.5% to AED20.6 billion by 2022.

“The new age of surveillance is all about automation, intelligence, and resource efficiency,” commented Markus Oberlin, CEO, Farnek. “We are currently focusing on command and control room solutions, body cameras and mobile DVRs, time and attendance products with cloud management and video door phone systems,” he added.
