Sophos has announced the appointment of Bill Lucchini as the general manager of Sophos Cloud, the company’s new Cloud business unit.

Lucchini will be based in the company’s North American headquarters in Boston, and will report to Sophos CEO Kris Hagerman.

According to Sophos, Lucchini will be responsible for driving the company’s cloud strategy, a key strategic priority.

“Our customers and partners around the world are keenly interested in how Sophos is leveraging cloud-based technology to deliver complete security without complexity,” said Hagerman. “We’re excited to bring in an accomplished industry veteran like Bill to lead this key business unit. Bill’s leadership and experience in driving cloud-focused product strategies, coupled with his deep background in working with SMBs and the channel, make him an ideal fit for this role.”

“Bringing Sophos’ complete security portfolio to the cloud promises to be a strategic differentiator for the company, and will dramatically simplify the delivery and administration of IT security for time-strapped enterprises and MSPs,” said Lucchini. “I’m thrilled to join Sophos and help the company leverage the power and flexibility of the cloud to fully deliver on its vision to ‘make security simple.'”

Lucchini brings more than twenty years of business strategy, management and operational excellence to Sophos. Lucchini previously served as chief operating officer of OnForce Inc.
