Over 50,000 cyber-attacks target UAE daily

UAE Cyber Security Council revealed that banking, financial, health, oil and gas sectors are the most targeted

The UAE Head of Cyber Security Mohammed Hamad Al Kuwaiti said that the UAE Cyber Security Council cooperates with its partners in deterring over 50,000 cyber-attacks per day, which target strategic national sectors.

At the recently held Oracle CloudWorld Tour Abu Dhabi 2023, Al Kuwaiti said that the banking, financial, health, oil and gas sectors are the most targeted, noting that all attacks are countered proactively and efficiently, to protect the country’s digital sphere.

The council is responsible for tackling cyber-attacks in line with the country’s information security standards and policies. Al Kuwaiti affirmed that the UAE’s advanced digital infrastructure and capabilities effectively counter malicious cyber-attacks that target government authorities.

UAE Cyber Security Council: Building a robust security ecosystem

During the event, the UAE Cyber Security Council also extended its cooperation with Oracle to bolster initiatives and cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.

Under the extended partnership, the UAE Cyber Security Council and Oracle have agreed to work together to help strengthen the UAE’s Cyber Security framework by exchanging information on IT security risks, providing updates on latest cybersecurity technology solutions, sharing educational material, and conducting continuous training on cybersecurity related topics across all sectors.

“The UAE is at the forefront of creating a state of the art and secure digital infrastructure to help drive the country’s digital economy growth,” said Al Kuwaiti.

He further highlighted that the Cyber Security Council is determined to build a cybersecurity system that protects all vital sectors in the country, supported by a safe and efficient environment in accordance with international best practices.

“We also work continuously in cooperation with partners, institutions and individuals to enhance cybersecurity in all vital sectors through an advanced and resilient digital security system that strengthens the UAE’s leading position globally in various fields,” he said.
