Revealed: Major new WhatsApp feature coming soon

WhatsApp users will soon be able to secure their private chat with a lock feature

WhatsApp will soon launch a new feature that will enable users to secure individual chats with their fingerprint or passcode.

According to WA Beta Info, the Android version of the app will allow users to lock their private chats either via the chat contact or group info.

New WhatsApp feature: How it works

By using the group info or a chat’s contact, a user can secure their private chat with a lock feature. Once locked, the chat will be included in a separate list of locked chats within the app.

The chat can only be accessed using the user’s fingerprint or passcode.

The lock feature provides an extra level of privacy for sensitive chats, as it allows users to safeguard their messages from prying eyes. If someone else attempts to open the chat without the required fingerprint or passcode, they will have to clear the chat to gain access. Furthermore, the feature is particularly useful in keeping media files, such as photos and videos shared within locked chats, private. It ensures that such files are not automatically saved to the device’s gallery, offering users greater control over their privacy.
