In line with the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy’s commitment to foster stronger connections with young Emirati developers and digital entrepreneurs, the organisation hosted a specialised workshop tailored for aspiring Emirati app developers.

This interactive session, titled ‘Fundamentals of Establishing a Business and Crafting a Successful Mobile Application,’ was conducted in collaboration with AstroLabs, and is aimed at contributing to the realisation of the UAE’s digital vision. The initiative falls under the chamber’s commitment to support the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ project and aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

More than 50 young Emiratis participated in the workshop, benefiting from opportunities to enhance their app development skills and engage with esteemed experts to explore their innovative concepts.

The ‘Fundamentals of Establishing a Business and Crafting a Successful Mobile Application’ workshop delivered valuable insights on launching a startup in Dubai and effectively harnessing the latest technologies. It provided a tailored platform for discussions, hands-on guidance, and knowledge exchange on the design, development, and pitching of mobile app prototypes to key facilitators and investors.

As part of the workshop, participants were introduced to a newly created infographic guide outlining the advantages of innovative no-code platforms. Developed by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy in partnership with the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence Office, this resource aims to lower entry barriers for individuals interested in a career in app development. It provides a comprehensive guide to no-code platforms, enabling those without programming experience to create their own apps. This guide is designed to assist young Emiratis in entering the world of app development and testing their applications before launch.

The ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative, launched in March of this year by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, is dedicated to nurturing the talents of local digital enthusiasts. It has set an ambitious goal of training a select group of 1,000 Emiratis in collaboration with the private sector, with the aim of tripling the number of app creators in the emirate by 2025. Additionally, the initiative supports the development of 100 new national projects aimed at creating cutting-edge apps for digital app stores over the next two years.

Under the leadership of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ strives to capitalise on emerging growth opportunities in the sector by building a robust digital infrastructure, establishing a legislative framework supportive of app development, and introducing government incentives to accelerate the sector’s growth, all in line with the chamber’s strategic objectives.
