Dubai’s Hala announces ‘Careem Pay’ for captains

Hala aims to revolutionise the way payments are made, ensuring quicker and more frequent remuneration in the form of tips and bonuses

Hala, Dubai’s e-hailing taxi solution, is stepping up its game once again by introducing the Careem Pay digital wallet for its fleet of ride-hailing Captains.

With this new feature, Hala aims to revolutionise the way payments are made, ensuring quicker and more frequent remuneration in the form of tips and bonuses.

Gone are the days of waiting impatiently for that monthly payment to come through. Thanks to the Careem Pay digital wallet, Hala Captains can now receive their hard-earned rewards up to twice a week, directly into their virtual pockets. This phased roll-out will first grace the Careem app, granting Captains unparalleled convenience and flexibility.

But Hala’s mission doesn’t stop at convenience alone. The company is relentlessly pursuing ways to enhance the lives of its Captains, Communities, and Customers. By introducing Careem Pay, Hala empowers its Captains to make the most of their earnings, enabling them to settle bills, recharge mobile plans, or effortlessly transfer money directly within the app to any bank account.

Careem Pay also allows for international money transfers with a single click, offering preferential exchange rates and waving goodbye to pesky fees. Currently, Captains can remit money to Pakistan, serving a whopping 70 percent of the entire Captains’ community. More countries are in the pipeline, ready to join soon.

Khaled Nuseibeh, the visionary Chief Executive Officer at Hala, expressed his deep commitment to the wellbeing of their Captains and their mission to foster a people-first culture.

Khaled Nuseibeh, Chief Executive Officer at Hala, said, “We have thus decided to launch this initiative for Captains to be able to receive remuneration more frequently and with ease. We are working with our partners to further expand the countries of remit to ensure we are catering to everyone equally.”

Hala has wasted no time in putting this groundbreaking payment solution into action, already onboarding a staggering 14,000 Captains. But they’re not stopping there – their ambitious goal is to provide access to Careem Pay for approximately 17,000 Captains by the end of July 2023.
