MoIAT mandates use of UAE Pass for clients and companies

The move supports the UAE’s objectives for digital transformation and harmonises with the goals set forth in the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology

The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) has introduced a initiative mandating the use of the digital national identity, “UAE Pass,” for clients and companies to access its industrial standards, conformity assessments, and national accreditation services. This move underscores the UAE’s commitment to embracing the digital era and aligns seamlessly with the objectives of the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology.

During a recent announcement, Humaid Hassan Alshamsi, Director of the Customer Happiness Department at MoIAT, emphasised the positive reception of UAE Pass during its trial phase. The initiative was designed with the primary goal of augmenting and enhancing the client experience, and early feedback indicates that it has succeeded in this regard.

According to Alshamsi, this pivotal step is poised to significantly elevate the performance and growth of the UAE’s industrial sector. By facilitating agile online access to MoIAT’s services, it not only enhances the sector’s competitiveness but also fosters sustainability in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

“A total of 16,574 companies have registered for UAE Pass. This is a significant increase which reflects the dedication of MoIAT’s clients and their understanding of the importance of this initiative, which gives them immediate, secure access to numerous services. It also indicates their confidence in UAE Pass in simplifying administrative procedures and enhancing engagement,” he said.

Alshamsi pointed out that this efficient service delivery is fully aligned with MoIAT’s directives and the UAE government’s overarching digital transformation strategy. He urged clients to embrace the new digital national identity system, which not only enhances the business ecosystem but also streamlines access to government services through digital platforms.

Seamless transition to digital services

To facilitate this transition, MoIAT has implemented an online process that became mandatory in mid-July. This process enables clients to obtain document signatures and verifications digitally, eliminating the need for in-person visits to service centers. The ministry has also taken steps to disseminate comprehensive guidelines, available in both Arabic and English, to assist companies and clients with the registration process and the linking of their accounts to UAE Pass.

How to register

For those eager to embrace this transformative digital experience, MoIAT clients can easily download the UAE Pass smartphone app from either the Apple Store or Google Play. Registration can be completed following simple steps, including:

  • Uploading an Emirates ID
  • Verifying mobile phone number and email address
  • Creating a password to access government services
