Visitors from small and medium-sized enterprises are turning to Sophos at GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK to help them lessen the burden of the large workloads that their security operations demand.

According to Chester Wisniewski, Senior Security Advisor at Sophos, while the security vendor has been hosting discussions with enterprises of all sizes from many verticals this week, a large number of small and mid-sized companies are visiting the Sophos stand in Hall 2 to find out how their security operations can be simplified.

“The smaller and mid-size companies are overwhelmed with the amount of work they’re expected to do to secure themselves. It’s too hard. They’ve got eight different products and eight different things they need to teach their people about, and they’re really starting to get concerned because it used to be that they just had to worry about anti-virus and firewalls,” he says.

“And now all of a sudden they’ve got web filters, and email filters and intrusion prevention. With all the press around these major breaches and things, there’s pressure from management.”

For Sophos, this is encouraging, Wisniewski says, as the issue largely resonates with what the vendor is offering to the market.

“You’re paying people like me and the guys in the labs to figure out the hard stuff,” he says.
