Microsoft-owned LinkedIn fires employees

The cuts come months after LinkedIn said it was not planning any layoffs but a hiring freeze across some verticals of the company

LinkedIn, a platform that provides job opportunities, has begun downsizing its recruiting team, joining the trend of layoffs. The move is reportedly in line with efforts to control costs during an impending global economic downturn.

As part of the layoffs, the professional networking and hiring platform owned by Microsoft has focused on staff members within its recruiting team, though the specific quantity of affected employees is still unknown.

LinkedIn’s job reductions are likely a component of Microsoft’s initiative to eliminate roughly 10,000 jobs across several departments.

Some ex-staff members from LinkedIn’s recruiting team have also taken to the online recruitment-offering site to announce their abrupt departure.

According to a recent Bloomberg report, Microsoft terminated over 600 workers from its Seattle office who were part of the hardware divisions, including the HoloLens, Surface, and Xbox teams, as part of a broader reorganisation plan.
